Cutting tool standards updated, environmental protection and precision requirements strengthened

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has released a new version of the General Technical Conditions for Cutting Tools, which will be officially implemented on January 1, 2026. The new standard removes clauses related to intelligent cutting tools and focuses on strengthening basic performance requirements: the precision tolerance of the cutting edge is tightened to ± 0.002mm, the tool life testing standard is upgraded from "continuous cutting 20 hours" to "intermittent cutting 50 hours", and new coating environmental protection testing and recyclability rating are added. Experts point out that upgrading standards will accelerate the optimization of small and medium-sized production capacity and promote the industry's transformation towards high quality.
